Authorities search for UK tourist missing from Melbourne beach

Benjamin Watt was last seen on the beach taking photos.

Police in Melbourne have launched a major search for a British man with autism who went missing on Tuesday after visiting a suburban beach.

Benjamin Wyatt, 34, is in Australia with his family.

They were visiting Half Moon Bay in Black Rock in Melbourne's south-eastern suburbs when he went to take photos of the colourful beach boxes about 2:15pm on Tuesday.

When his parents went to find him, he had disappeared.

Police, the SES, lifesavers, water police and the police helicopter have been enlisted in the search.

Mr Wyatt is described as about 170cm tall, with a solid build, unshaven face and short light brown hair.

He was wearing a navy hooded jumper and blue jeans.

Anyone who sees him is urged to contact police.
