Missing man found dead in Aurora forest preserve

Alan Gustaitis | Aurora police

A 47-year-old man reported missing in suburban Aurora was found dead Friday in the Oakhurst Forest Preserve, police said.

The circumstances surrounding Alan Gustaitis’ death are still unclear.

Gustaitis was last seen 11:45 a.m. Wednesday in the 2400 block of Forestview Drive, according to a statement from Aurora police.

On Thursday, after he was reported missing, police said Gustaitis may have experienced a medical episode.

Police held an air and ground search for Gustaitis Thursday which included several nearby law enforcement agencies and about 150 community members. Thursday’s search ended unsuccessfully about 5:30 p.m., police said.

Police located his body about noon Friday, according to police spokesman Paris Lewbel.

The DuPage County coroner’s office hasn’t released details about his death.
