Authorities looking at cell records connected to Dallas gunman

DALLAS _ Authorities are analyzing cellphone records connected to the gunman who killed five police officers and injured nine others Thursday night in downtown Dallas, according to search warrants released Tuesday.

The search warrants show that authorities are looking at text messages, transaction histories and subscriber histories of three T-Mobile cell numbers.

One of the numbers appears to belong to Johnson and the other two belong to family members.

Authorities will analyze call records between May 1 and Thursday, the night Micah X. Johnson opened fire on police officers in a crowd of demonstrators who were protesting police actions in other cities.

The documents released Tuesday don't give much insight into the investigation of what led Johnson to kill the officers.

Dallas police officials said they believe Johnson acted alone but are still looking into whether anyone close to him knew of his plans.

Johnson was killed by an explosive device deployed on a robot after hours of police negotiations at El Centro College.
