Authorities investigating reported death threats made against OKC Thunder over Paul George trade

Channel 5 KOCO-TV, Oklahoma City’s ABC affiliate, reported on Thursday death threats had been made against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the wake of the team trading Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers. The threats were made against the Thunder’s front office, including general manager Sam Presti and his family, and coaches, specifically mentioning head coach Bill Donovan, as well.

The caller was a man from Virginia. He made more than one call. A transcript of one of the messages reads as follows, according to KOCO-TV:

According to the report, the man also “used a bomb reference, saying he’d blow things up if he ever went to Oklahoma.”

The Thunder released a statement on the matter:

We defer to the authorities and they can handle the situation as they see fit.
