Author stuns after demanding breastfeeding be banned because 'women have boobs to attract men'

An author left This Morning viewers stunned today after demanding that breastfeeding be banned because "women have boobs to attract men"

A fiery debate erupted on the ITV daytime show today after author and columnist Virginia Blackburn branded breastfeeding "extremely offensive".

She was joined by mum Lottie Daley and hosts Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes, who were all left raising their eyebrows at the remarks.

"I'm so tired of this! It's been seven years since I became a mother and became involved in the breastfeeding debate," Lottie began by saying. "No woman goes 'ta dah!' and gets their breasts out."

But Virginia disagreed, saying: "I was on the Tube quite recently and a young couple sat down and with a flourish this woman produced her breasts and clamped her child and I was like, 'For god's sake'."

She added: "It's not just a nipple it's secondary genitalia."

Lottie rolled her eyes at the comment and Ruth questioned: "Is that because women's breasts have been sexualised? I mean, women's breasts are there to feed babies. That's what they're for."

Virginia hit back: "They're there to attract men as much as they are to feed children, Imean, that's a fact."

And viewers could not believe what they were hearing and flocked to Twitter to comment.

One tweeted: "Offensive wtf it’s natural far from offensive .. Omg women get with the real world , breasts are there to attract a man are you for real #ThisMorning."

While another commented: "'The purpose of breasts are too attract men' Um what? I'm pretty sure throughout all of evolution and the development of humans (even if you believe god created everything) never once has it been 'oh yes let's give people breasts to make them more attractive' ‍♀ ️#ThisMorning."

A third remarked: "'breasts are there to attract men just as much to feed children' ARE YOU HAVING A LAUGH THEIR LITERAL FUNCTION IS TO PRODUCE MILK TO FEED A CHILD MEN DONT COME INTO IT STOP FUELLING PATRIARCHY #ThisMorning."
