LOUISVILLE, Ky. _ Authentic took the lead from the beginning and led the Kentucky Derby field all the way around the Churchill Downs track to pull the upset over heavy favorite Tiz the Law, who finished second.
Major long-shot Mr. Big News was third, and second betting choice Honor A. P. finished fourth.
Authentic's victory gave Bob Baffert his sixth Kentucky Derby victory, tying legendary trainer Ben Jones for the most all time.
Just before the race, Baffert's other entry, Thousand Words, was scratched from the Derby after rearing and falling in the Churchill Downs paddock. His scratch left the Derby field at 15 horses, the smallest since 1998.
