Austrian Grand Prix live stream: preview

The Mercedes and Ferraris looked a lot livelier last time out, and with Aston Martin and McLaren also expecting a healthy speed boost from their own recent and ongoing car upgrades, Red Bull might not have things all their way at their home race at Spielberg.

The Austrian Grand Prix being the second Sprint weekend of the season adds additional layers of jeopardy. There are up to eight extra points up for grabs for each driver, which could see them fly up the standings. While Max Verstappen is already out of sight, Sergio Perez is looking very catchable after a terrible string of results.

However, while the Sprint gives with one hand it takes away with the other, and the format of the weekend means that Aston Martin and McLaren only have a single Practice session to optimise their car setup.

The schedule for this weekend's Austrian Grand Prix is as follows: Practice 1 is on Friday at 12.30pm BST, then it's Qualifying at 4pm; on Saturday, the Sprint Shootout is at 11am, before the Sprint itself at 3.30pm; then on Sunday, 2nd July, it's lights-out for the Austrian Grand Prix at 2pm.

F1 has also announced that it will pilot a "more efficient energy generation system" at the Red Bull Ring this weekend. Whether it negates the impact of travelling from Spain to Austria via Canada remains to be seen...
