Charles Leclerc put Ferrari on pole position for the Austrian Grand Prix on Saturday with Lewis Hamilton second-fastest for Mercedes.
However, the championship leader could receive a grid penalty after allegedly impeding Kimi Raikkonen and will be subject of a stewards' enquiry.
Red Bull's Max Verstappen, last year's winner at his team's home circuit, qualified third ahead of Valtteri Bottas, who was half a second down on Leclerc's time.
The pole was Leclerc's second of the season and Ferrari's first in Austria since Michael Schumacher in 2003.
Team-mate Sebastian Vettel endured a nightmare session, failing to set a lap time in the final top 10 shootout after a mechanical problem.
Haas' Kevin Magnussen pulled off a stunning lap to take fifth but will drop to 10th after a five-place grid penalty.
McLaren's Lando Norris will benefit from Magnussen's penalty and starts fifth, but his team-mate Carlos Sainz will start at the back of the grid.
