A 19-year-old woman from Hobart is in hospital after she was injured inside Paris’ Bataclan theatre.
Emma Jane Parkinson currently lives in Germany but was in Paris on Friday at a concert inside the theatre, Nine News has reported.
The premier of Tasmania, Will Hodgman has confirmed her identity and appealed for privacy on behalf of her family.
She was injured and is in a Paris hospital but her condition is unknown.
Members of an Australian band, Boo Seeka, were trapped for four hours in a Paris music venue 2km from the Bataclan theatre after the siege began, according to their Facebook page.
An Australian freelance journalist, Chris Binns, told Fairfax Media he had intended to go to the Bataclan theatre on Friday night but his plans fell through.
The foreign minister, Julie Bishop, had earlier said at least one Australian was injured in the terrorist attacks, which have claimed at least 120 lives and injured about 200.
“The Australian government is continuing to work with French authorities to identify any other Australians who may be affected,” she said.
Eight terrorists were involved in coordinated assaults on cafes, bars, a shopping centre, a football match at the Stade de France, and the siege of the theatre.
The attacks “had all the hallmarks of a Daesh exercise”, according to the prime minister, Malcolm Turnbull, but no terrorist group has yet claimed responsibility.
