The Australian winter Olympian who tested positive for COVID ahead of the Beijing Games has now returned two negative results, the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) has confirmed.
Curler Tahli Gill and teammate Dean Hewitt had been isolating after Gill returned a positive test on arrival at Beijing Airport.
However, Gill has since returned two negative tests and can resume normal training as a result.
"We are greatly relieved as a team, that goes without saying," Gill and Hewitt wrote in a joint statement.
"But importantly for us both as a team, this experience is not going to define our Olympic campaign. We have treated this time as a rest day and a time to really focus on our Olympic goals.
"We look forward to representing Australia with pride and making history for our sport."
Gill confirmed she had contracted COVID several weeks ago while training in Canada and had tested negative before travelling.
AOC Chef de Mission Geoff Lipshut said he was proud with the way they handled the distraction.
"They have dealt with this extremely well and we are very proud of them," he said.
"Now they can resume their preparation for the start of competition on Wednesday. We are looking forward to Tahli and Dean becoming our very first curling Olympians."
