Titmus beat US swimmer Katie Ledecky on Monday to win the gold medal in the women’s 400m freestyle swimming event.
The Australian finished with a time of 3:56.69 while Ledecky completed the race in 3:57.36.
China’s Bingjie Li claimed bronze with a time of 4:01.08.
The 20-year-old’s victory sent her coach, Dean Boxall, into a wild celebration.
Dressed in a bright yellow shirt, he ripped his face mask off and started bouncing around his box as a staff member tried to contain him.
He was also seen punching the air several times and pacing up and down as he screamed an inaudible “yeah.”

The celebration, which has now been viewed thousands of times, led to a flurry of Twitter memes.
