Australian Open 2015: Andy Murray joined by two more British men

ANDY MURRAY

The No6 seed has a good record in Melbourne, reaching the final three times (more than any other slam) but with no trophy. He starts on Sunday on Margaret Court Arena against the Indian Yuki Bhambri, the world No314. If he progresses to the final we are in for a formidable fortnight, with a run that could include Marinko Matosevic in the second round, Martin Klizan (32) in the third, Grigor Dimitrov (10) in the fourth, a quarter-final against Roger Federer (2) and a semi-final against Rafael Nadal (3) before meeting Novak Djokovic (1) in the final. Looks tricky.

KYLE EDMUND

The 20-year-old appears in his first slam after an epic qualifying win over the Australian Dane Propoggia. The world No192, from Beverley in east Yorkshire, is coached by Greg Rusedski and was called up for Great Britain’s Davis Cup squad last year. He faces the American Steve Johnson, the world No39, on Monday.

JAMES WARD

Britain’s No2, who trained with Murray in Miami before Christmas, could reach the world top 100 if he beats Spain’s Fernando Verdasco in the first round on Monday. A tall order but the 27-year-old beat John Isner in an exhibition match last week. Secured his place in the draw after Marin Cilic’s withdrawal.
