Australian Liverpool fans incredible stunt flies Champions League glory in Manchester United faces

Liverpool fans in Australia decided to remind Manchester United who the Kings of Europe are in the cheekiest way possible on Thursday morning.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men are Down Under for their club's pre-season tour and trained at the famous WACA (Western Australia Cricket Academy) cricket ground, ahead of the Red Devils' match against Perth Glory on Saturday.

As they were put through their paces, a plane appeared overhead trailing a banner, bearing the legend " LIVERPOOL FC - 6 X EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS ! "

The stunt was the brainchild of Reds fan Alun Vernals, a lifelong Liverpudlian who was born and lives in Perth but grew up in Risca, South Wales.

Alun said: "I thought of the idea not long after we won number six in Madrid and realised United would be here.

"I mentioned it to a few of my mates and managed to get 18 people involved to lessen the cost.

"With their pre season being so close to the Champions League final, it seems like only yesterday and I just couldn't resist!"

An estimated 12,000 Manchester United fans were in attendance at the training session, with some reportedly queueing for over two hours in advance of the session.

Liverpool have toured Australia a number of times in recent years with 95,000 turning out six years ago at the Melbourne Cricket Club for the Reds' first ever game Down Under.
