Australian Grand Prix live stream: preview

Max Verstappen qualified on pole, 0.236 ahead of the Mercedes' George Russell. Lewis Hamilton took third and Fernando Alonso will start fourth. "Wow. What session for us. The car felt alive," said a delighted Hamilton. "The lap was right on the limit."

Red Bull arrive Down Under holding all the cards – not to mention the lead of both championships thanks to back-to-back one-two finishes in both Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. But with Sergio Perez just one point adrift of Max Verstappen, F1 fans could be in for some inter-team fireworks then the lights go out in Melbourne.

Meanwhile, Fernando Alonso and Aston Martin have chalked up two podiums in two races to cement their position as the second-best team on the grid. Alonso believes it's just a matter of time before Red Bull slip up, giving Lawrence Stroll his first F1 win. Can the green machines outpace Ferrari again in Australia this weekend?

The 2023 Australian Grand Prix takes place at the 5.278-kilometre Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit. Light rain is forecast to hit Melbourne on Friday, so wet tyres may be the order of the day during Practice 1 and 2.
