Australian diving quartet sweep Olympic quota spots

Australia's divers have completed an Oceania championhips clean sweep to secure all four Olympic Games quota spots on offer.

Georgia Sheehan triumphed in the women's three-metre springboard and Sam Fricker won the men's 10m platform on Friday's final day of the titles in Brisbane.

The victories followed Thursday wins to compatriots Shixin Li (men's 3m springboard) and Nikita Hains (women's 10m platform), locking in the four quota spots for Australia in the events at next year's Paris Olympics.

Sheehan banked a total score of 318.00 to win her event from fellow Australian Brittany O'Brien (303.60).

"I felt more nervous for the preliminaries than the final, I think I needed to shake off a few jitters," Sheehan said.

"Competition was quite tight ... I was definitely nervous going up against such strong competitors."

Fricker's victory was even tighter as he scored 406.25 to edge 17-year-old countryman Jaxon Bowshire (405.60).

"It was my first competition of the season and every competition when we come back from a training block can be a bit of a stab in the dark," Fricker said.

"I am really happy for Jaxon, he performed some incredible dives and put up a great fight.

"It was reassuring to see he was going great during the competition to know Australia was in a good spot."

Australia's reigning 10m platform world champion Cassiel Rousseau sat out the championships after his win in Japan last July locked in a quota spot.

And stalwart Maddison Keeney also skipped the titles with her silver medal in the mixed 3m springboard with partner Domonic Bedggood at this year's world championships also securing a quota spot for Australia at the Paris Games.
