Saskia Post dead: Dogs in Space actress dies aged 59

Australian actress Saskia Post was found dead aged 59 on Monday.

The starlet - best known for her role in 1986 film Dogs in Space opposite Michael Hutchence - died of complications to do with a congenital heart issue.

Saskia had been at Melbourne's Alfred Hospital, in Australia.

The blonde beauty made her mark on the entertainment spheres with her acting parts across film and Australian television shows.

She become a something of a pin-up after her lead role in Dogs In Space secured her serious fame.

Michael had also courted a lot of attention for his role in the cult classic film.

Saskia landed parts in 1985 film Bliss and the 1991 flick Proof following her rise to fame.

Yet her work was more sparse and less known than her most famous role in Dogs In Space.

The actress later tried her hand at acting on stage in Melbourne and Sydney.

It was on stage where she secured lead roles in Oscar Wilde's Salome and Rhondda Johnson's Skin.

Her work hadn't come without controversy as Skin was staged at a Melbourne CBD brothel in 1995.

Saskia was originally born in California in 1961.

Her parents later settled in Australia in 1975 where she went to school and started her successful acting career.

However, she had been living in Trentham recently working for a local primary school.
