Nottingham Forest striker Jason Cummings has been approached to represent Australia, despite having already turned out twice for Scotland.
Socceroos boss Graham Arnold is said to be doing his best to lure the 23-year-old, who is eligible to do so thanks to an Australian grandparent, to make the switch according to Football.Scotland.
He plans to travel to the UK on a six-week scouting trip to watch the forward.
Cummings has been told by Reds boss Sabri Lamouchi that he can leave this summer after disappointing loan spells with Peterborough and Luton Town.
In 14 league appearances on Trentside, the former Hibs man has scored just once for the Reds , in a City Ground victory over Sheffield United.
But that has not stopped Arnold from doing his upmost to add the striker to his ranks to help them qualify for the upcoming 2022 World Cup.

Speaking to the World Game, he said: “He’s one either I or Rene Meulensteen will most definitely be watching because we need to spread the net as wide as possible.
“The more talent we can get at our disposal the better and I’m looking at players who have Australian ancestry.
“Martin Boyle and Harry Souttar both fit that category and we may find more out there.”
