Australia star David Warner's poor form continues ahead of T20 World Cup and Ashes

David Warner has continued his woeful run of form in Australia 's two T20 World Cup warm-up games.

Warner endured a poor second half of the IPL, making 2 off 3 and 0 off 3 in his only two appearances before suffering an unceremonious axing by the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Before the resumption of the IPL, Warner had not played a competitive game of cricket since the first half of the tournament back in April and he appeared low on both confidence and form.

The 34-year-old has since struggled in World Cup warm-up games against New Zealand and India, getting out for a golden duck and then scoring just 1 off 7.

Warner's form is a big worry for Australia heading into the tournament, as well as the upcoming Ashes series.

He is a proven campaigner and Australia are adamant that Warner will get back to his best.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, white-ball captain Aaron Finch said: "He's one of the best players to ever play the game for Australia.

"I've got no doubt that his preparation, while he would love to be playing for Hyderabad no doubt, I know that he's still training away. He'll be good to go."

All-rounder Glenn Maxwell, meanwhile, has warned against writing Warner off, saying: "If you ever doubt Davey, it's an absolute no-no. You know he's going to turn it around.

"He's a superstar of all three formats. He's made so many runs. He's going to go down as one of the greats of the game. Unfortunately, he got Martin Guptill'd [against New Zealand] with an absolute hanger.

"Gup seems to do that a lot against us. Those sorts of things happen when you're searching for it.

"But you know when he gets out there come game time, come the 23rd [of October], regardless of what happens in the next practice game, you know he's going to hit the ground running. He's going to be a big player for us."
