Australia's Great Barrier Reef disappearing due to climate change

It's a direct consequence of climate change. The temperature and acidity of oceans is increasing and many ecosystems can't keep up. Corals - a cornerstone of marine biodiversity - are especially impacted. Off the coast of north-eastern Australia, over half of the Great Barrier Reef has disappeared in the past three decades due to a phenomenon known as coral bleaching. Since 2016 the situation has been getting worse. Scientists may have a solution, but the clock is ticking.

Our colleagues from France 2 report, with FRANCE 24's James Vasina.

A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett and James Vasina.
