MELBOURNE (Reuters) - Australia's Fortescue, the world's No. 4 iron ore miner, on Monday said it expected 1.5 million to 2 million tonnes of shipments of the steelmaking material to be delayed after a cyclone hit the country's west coast over the weekend.
"The current estimate of this disruption to shipping is within the range of 1.5 to 2 million tonnes, on the assumption that the port reopens in the next 24 hours," a spokesman said in an emailed statement to Reuters.
"Once we have had an opportunity to fully assess the situation we will determine our ability to mitigate and offset this impact."
