Australia's Boomers have fallen just short of reaching their first men's basketball World Cup final after European giants Spain claimed a thrilling 95-88 double overtime victory in their semi-final in Beijing.
The Boomers had led by 11 points during the third quarter, however Spain fought its way back into the contest and took a 71-70 lead inside the final 10 seconds of regulation time.
Patty Mills levelled scores for the Boomers when he landed the first of two free throws, but his second attempt missed, which forced the game into overtime.
It was 80-80 at the end of the first period of overtime, before Spain lifted its effort in the second to clinch the win and move through to the gold-medal game.
The Boomers have never before won a medal at a World Cup or the Olympics, but they still have the chance of claiming bronze in China when they meet either Argentina or France in Sunday's third-place play-off.
More to come.
