Australia's batsmen flustered at Lord's before rain curtails day three

Rain has again dominated proceedings in the second Ashes Test at Lord's, but not before Australia's batsmen caught a case of the butterflies against English pace.

When play was called off following relentless drizzle in London, Australia was 4-80 with Steve Smith unbeaten on 13 and Matthew Wade 0 not out.

Having dismissed England for 258 on day two and resuming at 1-30, opener Cameron Bancroft started nervously before getting trapped LBW on review to Jofra Archer, who claimed his first wicket in Test cricket.

Four balls later, Usman Khawaja fell for 36 when he offered a regulation edge to Jonny Bairstow off Chris Woakes's bowling.

Travis Head did not last too long before he was trapped plumb LBW by Stuart Broad, only for umpire Aleem Dar to reject the appeal. But on review, the trajectory of the ball was careening towards middle stump.

But once the heavens opened once more, play ended for the day, though it took until after the tea break before play was called off.

Australia leads the series 1-0 after a handsome 251-run win at Edgbaston.
