(Reuters) - AGL Energy <AGL.AX> on Monday confirmed that Chinese-owned Alinta Energy made a A$250 million ($189 million) bid for AGL's Liddell coal-fired power station.

AGL said it was assessing the offer. The company said earlier it had yet to receive any offer, but it had been advised that Alinta would send its bid later on Monday.
