Australia records first day without locally acquired COVID case since June

Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt has thanked health care workers across the country as Australia achieves a day with no locally acquired cases for the first time in nearly five months.

Here is a summary of what happened on Sunday:

  • There were no locally acquired cases in Australia today. This is the first time that has happened since June 9.
  • NSW has reported a case connected with a known cluster. This will be counted in Monday's figures.
  • Victoria recorded zero cases, while NSW recorded four cases from overseas travellers.
  • Queensland and Western Australia also had one case each who were returned travellers.
  • South Australia announced it would start testing the wastewater facilities at Tailem Bend and Naracoorte for traces of COVID-19.
