Australia made a "shocker of a review" in their T20 World Cup clash against the West Indies, with captain Aaron Finch wasting one of his side's reviews on an LBW shout against Evin Lewis.
Lewis was hit on the flap of the pad by Mitchell Marsh in the seventh over of the game and Australia inexplicably decided to review the decision after the umpire gave it not out.
Replays showed the ball hit Lewis well outside the line of off-stump and commentator Mark Nicholas branded it "a shocker of a review".
Reacting on social media, journalist Will Macpherson said it was "one of the great s*** reviews".
"Australia shouldn’t get another review for the rest of the game after that", joked one fan.
"What a pathetic review", added a second.
One supporter took the opportunity to aim a dig at Australia's Test captain Tim Paine and his poor record when it comes to reviews, joking: "Tim Paine isn’t even playing and Australia review and this happens".
Paine notably squandered his reviews in the iconic 2019 Ashes Test at Headingley, ultimately costing his side the win.
Against the West Indies, Australia kept them to a total of 157-7, with Andre Russell smashing two huge sixes off the final two balls of the innings.
Captain Kieron Pollard top scored for the West Indies, blasting 44 off 31 balls, while the likes of Lewis, Chris Gayle, Shimron Hetmyer and Russell also made important contributions.
Josh Hazlewood and Adam Zampa were the pick of the bowlers for Australia, with Hazlewood taking 4-39 and Zampa proving miserly with figures of 1-20.
The game is also Dwayne Bravo's final appearance for the West Indies, with the great all-rounder retiring from international cricket.
Gayle also appeared to hint at international retirement, with the 42-year-old taking off his helmet and raising his bat to enjoy a standing ovation after he was bowled by Pat Cummins for 15.
Speaking ahead of the game, Gayle said: "I can remember the fun memories, winning two world titles, fantastic. Playing with Bravo as well.
"To be a part of that has been fantastic. I know he’s leaving us, but he’s done a great job for West Indies cricket.
"He’s a legend of the game, one of the greats, so I’m happy to finish with DJ Bravo here in this last game against Australia. But I’m semi-retired. I’m semi, I’m one away."
