Australia rugby bosses have met Israel Folau following his anti-gay tirade but say that their position over the shamed rugby star is "unchanged".
Folau is set have his contract terminated after Israel Folau anti-gay Instagram post sees Australia announce plans to terminate multi-million dollar contract claiming that "hell" awaits gay people - along with "drunks, adulterers, liars, fornicators, thieves, atheists and idolaters" - if they do not "repent".
Having already been warned last year after similar homophobic posts on his social media channels, Folau had been deemed to have flouted the reportedly tighter social media guidelines in the new contract he had signed with Rugby Australia last October.
And that resulted in the governing body announcing their intent to tear up Folau's contract after being unable to contact the 73-cap international - leaving his international career in tatters mere months before the Rugby World Cup in Japan.
The Wallabies full-back was spotted in Sydney on Friday to meet with his employers - with Rugby Australia releasing a statement soon after that confirmed that their intention is still to terminate Folau's lucrative deal. Folau declined to speak to the waiting media.
“Rugby Australia and the NSW Rugby Union have met with Israel Folau in Sydney today," read the statement.
“As the meeting was held in confidence between the player and his employers, Rugby Australia and the NSW Rugby Union will not comment on the discussions at the meeting.
“Following today’s meeting the two organisations will update their respective Boards on the matter to consider next steps.
“Our joint position regarding Israel Folau is unchanged.”
