SYDNEY (Reuters) - Australian government spending for consumption rose 1.0 percent in the first quarter to an inflation-adjusted A$78.64 billion ($58.74 billion), the Australian Bureau of Statistics reported on Tuesday.
Investment spending by the government and public enterprises dipped 2.7 percent to A$21.14 billion, implying total spending likely made a very small addition to economic growth.
The data will feed into the gross domestic product (GDP) report for the first quarter due on Wednesday.
