SYDNEY (Reuters) - Australian government spending for consumption rose 1.7 percent in the December quarter to an inflation-adjusted A$83.16 billion, the Australian Bureau of Statistics reported on Tuesday.

Investment spending by the government and public enterprises rose 2.9 percent to A$22.85 billion, implying overall spending made a sizeable addition to economic growth last quarter.

The data will feed into the gross domestic product (GDP) report for the December quarter due on Wednesday.
