Australia: Government refuses to ban live shipments during summer

Australia's government is refusing to ban the export of farm animals during summer months, prompting anger from animal welfare groups.

Ministers had ordered a review of the industry after it was revealed thousands of sheep died on a voyage from Australia to the Middle East.

The government has agreed to improve standards on board ships.

Al Jazeera's Andrew Thomas reports from Sydney.
