The Matildas have drawn 1-1 with China in their first outing since the Women’s World Cup. In her 50th international, Tameka Butt opened the scoring for Australia in the 12th minute in Chongqing.

Australia dominated large passages of play before Li Dongna found a late first-half equaliser for the hosts from the penalty spot to share the spoils. Coach Alen Stajcic handed a debut to Tara Andrews, who came on as a late substitution.

Quarter-finalists in the recent FIFA Women’s World Cup, the Matildas will play England on Tuesday night in Chongqing to complete their tour of China before embarking on Olympic qualifiers in February.
