Australia batsman David Warner back to his best after Ashes nightmare as he hits century against Pakistan

David Warner scored more runs on Friday than he managed during the entire summer Ashes series.

The Australia opener ended day two of the First Test against Pakistan at the Gabba in Brisbane on 151 not out — his first century since returning from his 12-month ball-tampering ban.

The 33-year-old endured a terrible summer in England, scoring just 95 runs at an average of 9.5 as defending champions Australia retained the famous urn but drew the five-match series 2-2.

But Warner turned that around on Friday with his 22nd Test century for Australia.

“It means a lot,” said Warner.

“My family and I have obviously had a tough period.”

The Aussies finished the day in total control on 312 for one in reply to the tourists’ first innings 240.

Pakistan's only success came with the removal of Warner's opening partner Joe Burns [97], who fell just short of his own ton.
