Austin Seibert nailed a 68-yard FG in warmups in Denver

Austin Seibert’s first season as the Cleveland Browns’ kicker is off to a great start. He’s made every field goal he’s attempted, a very positive development both for the team and for Seibert, who struggled throughout training camp.

The one thing the fifth-round rookie from Oklahoma has not had to do is show off the booming range. His longest attempt is just 48 yards. It’s safe to say he can do more, however.

In the thinner air in Denver, he added 20 yards to that mark. Special teams coordinator Mike Priefer mentioned Seibert’s 68-yard bomb in pregame warmups last Sunday.

“He had a really good pregame. He actually, off the sticks, hit a 68-yard field goal, which I have never seen before,” Priefer said in his Thursday press conference. “When we were practicing with the group, the holder/snapper in pregame, he hit a 63-yarder. So I think he was feeling good about it.”

Last week, Priefer declared he believes kicking in Denver adds five yards to the range. Even if that’s true, Seibert’s huge leg should give the coaching staff confidence in his range for the rest of the season.
