Austin Seferian-Jenkins succinctly explains why he’s joining the Patriots

Austin Seferian-Jenkins received backlash on social media after signing with the New England Patriots. Generally, Jets fans weren’t pleased to see that the tight end, who spent 2018 in New York, was joining the Patriots, a division rival.

On Instagram, one fan asked: Why?!

Seferian-Jenkins response was laughably simple: “ever heard of Tom Brady?”

Fair enough.

The appeal of playing with Brady appears to have led to a one-year, veteran minimum deal with New England. It’s unclear what other deals Seferian-Jenkins had on the table. But that’s obviously not a desirable one with the shortest length and lowest salary possible.

Seferian-Jenkins has underwhelmed since being a second round pick in the second round in 2014. He has not topped 400 receiving yards while missing at least three games per season. With the Patriots and Brady, perhaps Seferian-Jenkins can finally turn the corner.
