Austin Seferian-Jenkins on signing with Patriots: ‘I’m ready to go to work’

Austin Seferian-Jenkins celebrated joining the New England Patriots with an Instagram post on Wednesday. The tight end thanked his new organization for signing him while leaving a very brief message.

“I’m ready to go to work,” he wrote.

Thank You @patriots I’m ready to go to work! #Year6

As Seferian-Jenkins enters his sixth year in the NFL, he and the Patriots are surely hoping he can find more consistency. He has never played a full season, missing at least three games due to injury in every season. He has also never eclipsed 400 receiving yards in a season.

The Patriots signed him to a veteran minimum contract, which shows that they’re not even sure he can make the roster, let alone become a major contributor. But Seferian-Jenkins was a second-round pick in 2014, and has flashed his significant potential since then. The Patriots have a major hole at tight end with Rob Gronkowski retiring and the Patriots parting ways with Dwayne Allen. Perhaps if Seferian-Jenkins can get comfortable in the Patriots offense, he may finally realize his potential in the NFL.
