While Lawrence Goldman’s obituary (28 October) certainly does justice to David Cesarani and brings home the loss we have suffered, he does not mention the book that had the greatest impact on me: Justice Delayed: How Britain became a Refuge for Nazi War Criminals. This is a truly shocking study that deserves to be remembered as well as his other contributions.

This is the distinction between Rachel Melhuish and Germaine Greer’s positions, and both are rational.

• Martin Kettle writes (23 October): “It is good that there is no war memorial to the dead of Agincourt.” But there is – All Souls College, Oxford, founded to pray for the dead of the war with France.

• I was struck by the headline on Guardian Sport on Saturday (24 October): “Hamilton can power to third world title in Austin”. Seems unlikely.
