Austin Hill says “F*** NASCAR” for penalty after wrecking rival in scary crash

With ten laps to go in a frantic NASCAR Xfinity race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Aric Almirola and Austin Hill were battling for fourth position.

Almirola made some contact with Hill, but the Richard Childress Racing pulled off an impressive save at the exit of Turn 3. Unfortunately, it appeared that Hill let frustration get the best of him as he abruptly turned the car back to the left, catching the right-rear of Almirola's Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota.

Almirola's car slammed the outside wall nearly head-on, impacting a section that is not protected by SAFER Barrier. Thankfully, he was okay, but Almirola and his team were furious over the radio.

Hill tells NASCAR to "go f*** themselves" after penalty

NASCAR decided to hold Hill on pit road for five laps, and previous incidents like this have resulted in a driver being suspended. Any decisions regarding that won't come until the middle of next week.

Hill was passionate in defending himself, claiming he was trying to save the car and that the contact was not intentional. And when he was informed of NASCAR's penalty, the Xfinity veteran radioed back to his team: "Oh they can go f*** themselves. F*** NASCAR. That is f****** bulls*** ... I'm f****** sideways, I go to correct it back to the left. It's locked to the left and I run into the #19 [Almirola]."

Ultimately, Hill did serve the penalty and went on to finish 34th.

Almirola calls out Hill in fiery interview

“Oh, it was definitely intentional,” Almirola said in a post-race interview. “He blocked me three times, and I finally got him loose into (Turn) 3. He had damage on the nose, so he was really slow in the corners. It was time to go. We're coming down to ten laps to go and the leaders are starting to put a gap on us. It's time to go, I got him loose, and he just turned left and hooked me in the right rear. Honestly one of the biggest hits in my entire NASCAR career. Very reminiscent of the hit I took when I broke my back.”

Almirola later added: "It's just unfortunate that guys like that -- especially that guy. He stood up in front of a meeting at Martinsville and said he was going to be a role model for all the young kids to look up to and (have) racing etiquette. I think that's kind of laughable after that one."

NASCAR is still reviewing the incident, but if they were to suspend Hill, it would have serious ramifications. Per NASCAR's updated guidelines for playoff waivers, missing a race for a suspension will result in the loss of all playoff bonus points. A decision on that won't be made until the middle of next week when the weekly penalty report is released.
