The hand-wringing is now over. The debate about what the Browns do with Austin Corbett has come to a whimpering conclusion.
The Browns have traded Corbett to the Los Angeles Rams for a 2021 draft pick. According to the Browns, the draft pick is not yet determined.
(Update: The pick is a fifth-rounder in 2021.)
Don’t expect it to be anywhere near the value the Browns and GM John Dorsey laid out to select Corbett with the No. 33 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
Pegged initially as Joe Thomas’ successor at left tackle, Corbett quickly washed out at the position he thrived in at Nevada. His audition at right guard to replace Kevin Zeitler was even less successful this summer. He had been a healthy scratch for most of 2019 despite injuries to the Browns offensive line around him.
