The suspect thought to be behind a spate of bomb attacks in Austin, Texas, has been killed in an explosion after being cornered by police.
Austin Police Department chief Brian Manley confirmed a 24-year-old white male had died after triggering a bomb as he fled from officers.
The encounter took place outside a hotel in Round Rock, on the main IH-35 road north of central Austin.
The city has been terrorised in recent days after six homemade devices were sent to residents, seemingly at random, with one exploding at a FedEx postal depot in San Antonio. Two people have been killed so far and several more wounded in events police assume are connected.
