Aussie experts remain behind Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou as one insists 'miracle moment' is coming

Australian journalist Vince Rugari has urged Celtic fans to stay patient with Ange Postecoglou.

That's because he's confident a "miracle result" is just around the corner.

Postecoglou has endured a mixed time of it so far since succeeding Neil Lennon at Parkhead and his side sit sixth in the Premiership table though a battling win up at Aberdeen in their last outing provided cause for optimism.

They have racked up the goals with five more than anyone else in the league but a shaky defence means they have taken only 13 points from 24 available.

Rugari, who works for the Sydney Morning Herald in Postecoglou's home country, feels the turnaround isn't far away.

He reckons Postecoglou's record in Australia and Japan shows he will eventually get it right - and it will all start with a "miracle result" at some stage.

He said in an interview with 67 Hail Hail : “Why would it be any different? Maybe it’s hard for people in Scotland to get that point. Because you’ve not seen too much Aussie football, Japanese football, Socceroos, playing under Ange.

“But we’ve seen it. It happens, it’s the same game in a different country. Why would it not – I just can’t see any red flags or reasons to think it’s not going to work out.

“It seems like all the Celtic players who are there are trying their absolute best. There’s no dissent, there’s no-one who thinks this football is a bad idea, who don’t believe in it.

“There’s evidence in the way the team is playing as well, that there’s some good stuff in there. There comes a point in everywhere that Ange has gone, where the players, they go along with it, they go along with it.

“At some point there’s usually a miracle result, a late winner, some kind of big event or moment, where they stick to the style, even if the logical part part of their brain tells them, ‘this isn’t getting us anywhere’.

“And it yields something. It yields the results, and that becomes like a moment of realisation. When the whole group sees that if we do what Ange says, the dividends are actually going to come.

“I’m sure that moment will come for Celtic.”
