Aussie beach volleyball duo beaten in semi at worlds

Australia's beach volleyball duo Taliqua Clancy and Mariafe Artacho del Solar say they have no time to dwell on their semi-final defeat at the world championships in Mexico.

The Australians were beaten in straight sets by Brazil's defending world champs Ana Patricia Silva Ramos and Eduarda Santos Lisboa on Sunday (AEDT).

The 17-21, 14-21 result means the Australians play off for bronze on Monday AEDT.

"Definitely disappointed at the moment," Clancy said.

"But it's incredible that we have another opportunity tomorrow.

"It's nice that now we have the experience on the (Tlaxcala Bullring) court, we can definitely grow and be better.

"There's more space for us to perform and another opportunity, so time to recover and re-set to get on that podium."

United States pair Kelly Cheng and Sara Hughes play the Brazilian title-holders for the gold medal, with the Australians pitted against another US duo, Taryn Kloth and Kristen Nuss, in the bronze game.

The Australians have previously met Kloth and Nuss eight times, for three wins.

"We've had some really great battles against Kloth/Nuss so we definitely know that it's going to be a long battle," Clancy said.

"It's awesome we have another opportunity to play here and we definitely don't want to take that for granted."
