Aussie batter breaks AB de Villiers' record, slams fastest ever hundred in List A cricket

NEW DELHI: South Australia's Jake Fraser-McGurk has achieved a new milestone in List A cricket by scoring the fastest century, reaching the hundred-run mark in just 29 deliveries during a domestic one-day match against Tasmania on Sunday.

Fraser-McGurk achieved this incredible feat in the eighth over of South Australia's run chase at Karen Rolton Oval, surpassing the previous record of 31 deliveries held by South Africa's AB de Villiers against the West Indies in 2015.

The 21-year-old opener started his onslaught by blasting a half-century off a mere 18 deliveries, setting an Australian one-day domestic record. He then accelerated further, needing just 11 more balls to complete his century, including an astonishing 32 runs scored in a single over.

Fraser-McGurk's incredible innings came to an end when he was eventually dismissed for 125 off only 38 balls, a blistering knock that included ten fours and a remarkable 13 sixes.

South Australia was in pursuit of Tasmania's formidable total of 435/9, which stands as the highest-ever total in Australian domestic one-day history.

This extraordinary achievement by Jake Fraser-McGurk follows another remarkable century scored in the world of cricket, as South Africa's Aiden Markram hit the fastest century in World Cup history, reaching the milestone in just 49 balls, the day before.
