Aurora police investigate vandalism in Metea Valley H.S. area

Sept. 24--Aurora police are investigating several reports of vandalism that occurred earlier this week at and around Metea Valley High School in the 1800 block of North Eola Road this week.

Sometime between 7 p.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. Wednesday, two parked vehicles and several areas of sidewalks and fencing were damaged with spray paint, causing about $4,000 in damage, according to a news release from the Aurora Police Department.

In addition, graffiti was painted on the siding of a private residence in the 3100 block of Bennett Place between 8:30 p.m. and 9:20 p.m., on Tuesday, police said. The residence is about one block south of Metea Valley and it appears to be the same color paint as used to damage the school.

Police said that there was similar damage at Longwood Elementary School in Naperville reported to the DuPage County sheriff's office around that time.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Aurora Police Investigations at (630) 256-5500 or Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000.

Callers to Crime Stoppers are anonymous and qualify for a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to any arrests. Tips can also be submitted through the Aurora Police Department's free app available through iTunes, the Android Market, or Amazon App Store.
