Feb. 19--An Aurora man has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for sexually assaulting a young child he knew and soliciting sexual acts from another, according to the Kane County State's Attorney's Office.
Between June 2010 and June 2014, Donald Fifelski, 61, of the 400 block of North Avenue, Aurora, sexually assaulted a young child and solicited the victim's younger sibling to do the same, according to evidence presented by prosecutors in the case. Both victims were less than 12 years old.
Fifelski pleaded guilty last week to predatory criminal sexual assault, a Class X felony, and indecent solicitation of a minor, a Class 1 felony. Fifelski agreed on Wednesday to a sentence of 17 years in prison in exchange for his plea, accepted by Kane County Judge John A. Barsanti.
Fifelski must also register for life as a sex offender, in compliance with the Illinois Sexual Offender Registration Act.
Fifelski's sentence includes time for both convictions -- 10 years for indecent solicitation of a minor and seven years for predatory criminal sexual assault, according to the state's attorney's office.
Fifelski must serve at least 85 percent of the lesser sentence and is eligible for day-to-day sentencing on the greater sentence, according to Illinois state law. He is receiving credit for at least 350 days served in Kane County jail.
