Auriemma named AP coach of the year; Washington's Plum top player

DALLAS _ Geno Auriemma was named Association Press coach of the year while Washington guard Kelsey Plum won AP player of the year. Auriemma received 26 of 33 votes by a panel of national media members who vote on AP's weekly poll.

The other coach of the year votes went to Oregon State's Scott Rueck (three votes), Drake's Jennie Baranczyk (two), and Duke's Joanne P. McCallie and Mississippi State's Vic Schaefer with one vote each.

Auriemma has won the AP award nine games. Plum is the first Washington player to win the top player award.

Plum received 30 of 33 votes. The other votes went to Katie Lou Samuelson, Gabby Williams and South Carolina's A'ja Wilson.
