Aurelien Tchouameni transfer decision made as Liverpool face Calvin Ramsay blow

Only one game remains in Liverpool's 2021/22 season as the build-up continues to the Champions League final this weekend.

The Reds have enjoyed a hugely successful season and have the opportunity to end the current campaign on a high in Paris on Saturday when taking on Real Madrid at the Stade de France. Jurgen Klopp’s side are still on course for a remarkable treble after winning both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup earlier this season.

Despite the extremely fruitful season it has already been, work continues to take place in the background as Liverpool prepare for their summer transfer business.

Who?

Aurelien Tchouameni

Where?

RMC Sport

What?

Liverpool transfer target Aurelien Tchouameni has chosen to join Real Madrid, according to reports.

Liverpool’s pursuit of Tchouameni has been one of the transfer sagas of the early summer. As one of the most sought after young players in Europe this summer, the Monaco midfielder has been valued at £59m. There have been conflicting reports emanating from Europe throughout the past month with suggestions including that Liverpool were in pole position for his signature and that Real Madrid weren’t planning to add to their midfield options this summer.

However, Real Madrid were always seen as favourites for the French international and their plans have apparently changed after being snubbed by Kylian Mbappe. RMC Sport has said that the midfielder has now chosen to join the Spanish club. This was backed up by French football journalist Julien Maynard who tweeted: “As announced by @RMCsport, Aurelien Tchouameni has chosen Real Madrid. The Monaco midfielder has already announced his departure to his teammates. #Mercato.”

This news follows the ECHO reporting last week that Tchouameni’s agent had informed Liverpool of his intention to join the Spanish champions. The fact the French international has chosen Los Blancos over the Reds will only add further drama to Saturday’s Champions League final.

Who?

Calvin Ramsay

Where?

The Scotsman

What?

Liverpool's hopes of signing promising Scottish right-back Calvin Ramsay could be scuppered by Serie A side Bologna.

Ramsay has emerged as one of Scotland’s rising stars since making his debut for Aberdeen last season and was recently crowned the Scottish Football Writers' Young Player of the Year. The 18-year-old Scotland Under 21 international is seen as a potential long-term understudy to Trent Alexander-Arnold and has made 33 appearances for his club this campaign.

Italian outfit Bologna attempted to sign Ramsay in January for a deal worth £4.8million and now The Scotsman has reported that they have made another effort to get the deal over the line.

The Dons rejected this bid for the teenager in January and reports say that the Reds also face competition from Leeds United for his signature. A rumoured £4m fee would also include significant performance-related-add-ons. If he were to join Jurgen Klopp's side, he would be expected to fill the void left by Neco Williams who has impressed on loan at Fulham during the second half of this season.

Bids are expected for the Welsh international who is in search of regular first team football after an impressive breakout year and with the Qatar World Cup on the horizon. Liverpool value Williams at around £10m with Fulham, Newcastle, Burnley and Southampton all rumoured to be interested.

Who?

Ibrahim Sangare

Where?

Empire of the Kop

What?

Liverpool are interested in signing PSV midfielder Ibrahim Sangare, according to reports.

The Reds have been watching the Ivory Coast international this season, who has been part of a PSV side that narrowly missed out on the Eredivisie title to Ajax by two points. They also reached the Europa Conference League quarter-finals before losing to Leicester City 2-1 on aggregate.

Sangare would be available for €25m, according to Empire of the Kop and would be seen as a cheaper alternative to Aurelien Tchouameni. The midfielder is 24 and is also attracting interest from Newcastle, Leicester and Aston Villa. With Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain expected to leave Anfield at the end of the season and James Milner’s future still up in the air, Sangare could fill an important void in Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
