Aurelien Tchouameni, Ross Barkley - The latest Chelsea transfer rumours ahead of January window

The next transfer window is fast approaching.

Chelsea are typically big spenders, and they may need to further strengthen their squad in January if something worthwhile presents itself in the market.

Equally, there may be opportunity for some players to leave in the near future.

The likes of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen are out of contract at the end of the season, whilst some others have been linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge.

With that in mind, let's take a look at some of the latest rumours out there.

What?

Chelsea have learned the transfer valuation for AS Monaco midfielder, Tchouameni.

The Frenchman has become one of the most sought after prospects following his performances for the Ligue 1 side and has been consistently linked with a move to the Premier League.

Now, the Blues have been told that they would need to shell out €50m (£42m) to get their man from Monaco.

What?

Chelsea’s hierarchy thought they had at last made a breakthrough in negotiations and were on the verge of getting the defender to commit to a new deal.

Christensen was set to land a bumper pay rise and put pen to paper on a five-year contract, with everything agreed, only for the goalposts to be changed at the last minute.

The Dane, who is yet to sign a new deal at Chelsea, is free to talk to foreign clubs in January before his contract expires in June 2022.

Ross Barkley

What?

Newcastle United are ‘leading the chase’ to sign Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley, but they face competition from both Leeds United and Everton for his signature.

Barkley has managed some minutes under Thomas Tuchel this season but is still more of a rotational option under the German.

The Blues have tried to offload him in the past and may finally be able to do so in January.
