Aurelien Tchouameni battle with Man United, Boubacar Kamara contact made - Chelsea rumours rated

Chelsea need a response in their push for the Premier League title after a difficult month and it could see business conducted in the transfer market.

Thomas Tuchel is blessed with a spectacular squad but the Champions League winners always have their eyes open for additional recruits.

A host of players have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this month, while there's already plenty of talk orientating around potential summer business.

We've gathered some of the latest rumours concerning the Blues and have issued our own verdict.

Chelsea 'step ahead' in Tchouameni battle

Chelsea are among a host of clubs attributed with an interest in Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni and could have the edge.

French journalist Julien Laurens has said the Blues are a 'step ahead' of their rivals in the push to land the 21-year-old, having eyed a transfer for a number of years.

That long-term interest could prove to be decisive in the hunt for the midfielder, who has also been touted with Manchester City and Manchester United.

Our verdict

Aurelien Tchouameni is one of the most exciting prospects making waves in European football right now and Chelsea have made it clear for a while that he's a player they hold significant interest in.

Now the challenge is to get a deal over the line to secure the services of the French ace, who can be a long-term asset to the Blues.

With Saul Niguez unlikely to make his loan at the club permanent, Chelsea will have a spot in their midfield available next season and Tchouameni could be the perfect addition - though there could be a battle for that place with Conor Gallagher.

Chelsea 'in contact' with Kamara

Another French-based player of interest to Chelsea, Boubacar Kamara looks set for a move at the end of the season with his contract at Marseille expiring.

Free to discuss a pre-contractual agreement with clubs outside of France this month, Foot Mercato's Santi Ouana has stated both Chelsea and Barcelona have made contact with the player's representatives.

Further competition in the market is present, however, with both Manchester United and Newcastle United attributed with an interest in securing a deal as early as this month.

Our verdict

Chelsea have a number of options for the aforementioned spot in their midfield ranks set to be available this summer and Kamara is a solid choice.

With the benefit of being available on a free, Kamara's signature will certainly not be easy to secure so it's encouraging to see Chelsea have reportedly begun their approach to land the midfielder.

Barcelona cannot be taken lightly though as they look to completely rebuild and that's where the fiercest competition in the market will be.
