PUNE: The Aurangabad circle, including the city areas, received heavy rainfall (over 88 mm) in just two hours on Saturday early morning, leaving several low-lying areas along the Kham river inundated. As per the measurements recorded by city-based APJ Abdul Kalam Centre for Astronomy and Research, over 51 mm rainfall was recorded in a span of 25 minutes in the city alone.
The centre’s director, Sriniwas Aundhkar, told TOI, “In those 25 minutes, rainfall was at speed of 118 mm per hour in Aurangabad city, making it the third cloud burst situation in the city in past one month.”
Parts of Nashik district reported light to heavy showers since Friday.
The IMD has warned of heavy rain at isolated places in Nashik district, and light to moderate rain in Dhule, Jalgaon, Ahmednagar and Nandurbar districts.
