Augustinus Bader offers the X-factor

Augustinus Bader moisturisers for different skin types.

Within four years, Augustinus Bader garnered 105 awards, including The Cream and The Rich Cream being voted WWD Beauty Inc's "The Greatest Skincare Of All Time" by industry insiders.

While a young brand, Augustinus Bader is backed by biomedical science and 30 years of research in developing high-performance skincare products.

Prof Augustinus Bader is currently the director of Cell Techniques and Applied Stem Cell Biology at the University of Leipzig in Germany.

In 2008, the German biomedical scientist and physician developed Wound Gel, which eliminates the need for surgery, skin grafts or scar revision and minimises opportunistic infections in patients suffering from diabetic wounds to third-degree burns.

French financier Charles Rosier learned of Prof Bader's groundbreaking Wound Gel. It took him over two years and five visits to Leipzig University to convince Prof Bader that his research could be applied to developing beauty products.

Eventually, they established the Augustinus Bader Group, which is structured around biomedical research and biotechnological treatments, coupled with a foundation to help patients in need.

Funding partially comes from the commercial success of the Augustinus Bader skincare brand, launched in 2018.

Starting with The Cream and The Rich Cream, the brand now offers a comprehensive range of face and body products all featuring TFC8, or Trigger Factor Complex, composed of natural amino acids, medical-grade vitamins and synthesised molecules naturally found in skin.

Based on his skin healing and tissue repair research, Prof Bader developed the patented technology comprising over 40 ingredients, with the resulting TFC8 guiding key nutrients and natural ingredients to the skin, creating an optimal environment for regeneration.

The proprietary complex is complemented by responsibly-sourced botanical and clean active ingredients. The skincare products are formulated without controversial ingredients, according to Augustinus Bader's Clean Science concept.

Formulations of the moisturisers take into account skin types. The Cream caters to combination to oily skin, and The Rich Cream is for normal to dry skin.

For intense moisturisation, Augustinus Bader suggests blending The Face Oil into the award-winning cream. The Face Oil also works on its own through the rich blend of botanical oils, such as conditioning babassu and hazelnut, antimicrobial karanja, and renewing pomegranate.

A solution for dry, irritated or sensitive skin, The Ultimate Soothing Cream contains vitamins, black cumin and evening primrose oils, as well as totarol as the key ingredients.

A compound from the totara tree, totarol has antimicrobial and antioxidant properties that make the wood resistant to decay. The superantioxidant is used in the cosmetics industry for its anti-ageing and other skincare benefits.

Augustinus Bader's latest moisturiser, The Light Cream is enriched with extracts of poria mushroom, wetland grasses, baobab leaf and Australian lemon myrtle.

The mattifying formula addresses excess shine while maintaining hydration and protection for fresh and balanced skin, making it ideal for combination and oily complexions as well as normal skin types in humid climate like in Thailand.
