It can be hard to predict what the weather is going to be like tomorrow, never mind a month in advance – however, the Met Office has come up with a long-range forecast.
They make no bones about saying it can be difficult to predict the weather in advance, but that hasn't stopped them from giving it their best shot.
Early indications are it’ll be a mixed start to the month, with some sunny spells and heavy showers, before things settle down as we hit mid-August.

Early weather forecast for Sunday, August 1 to Friday, August 6
It will likely be a return to the kind of mixed weather we saw early in the summer, with lots of sunny spells broken by showers.
Temperatures will be average for this time of year with highs around 23C down south and up in the high teens in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The Met Office expects the north east of the UK to be wetter than usual for this time of year, so now is the time to invest in that poncho.
Early weather forecast for Friday, August 6 to Friday, August 20
It gets harder to predict the further you get into the month, but early indications are that it will remain mixed in weather terms for the beginning of the month.
The Met Office expects things to settle down once we get into mid-August, and we could see the conditions stabilise enough for a return of the heatwave like weather we saw in July.
